23 orthopedic ASCs opened or announced in the past year

Here are 23 orthopedic-focused ASCs that were opened or announced in 2018 and early 2019:

Mississippi Sports Medicine And Orthopaedic Center in Madison, a 16-physician group, is building an ASC with 11 operating rooms. The center is slated to open in the spring of 2019.

Athens, Ala.-based The Orthopaedic Center planned to open an outpatient surgery center in September 2018

Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and the Miami Heat basketball team broke ground on the Coral Gables, Fla.-based Miami Heat Sports Medicine Center, which includes an ASC.

Phoenix-based OrthoArizona is opening a musculoskeletal-focused medical facility and ASC in Gilbert, Ariz.

Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health opened the Musculoskeletal Care McGivney Advanced Surgery Center in August 2018 on its Saint Raphael campus.

Lenoir, N.C.-based Caldwell UNC Health Care and a group of eight surgeons are teaming up to build a $7.1 million orthopedic ASC in Granite Falls, N.C.

Construction is underway on Oklahoma City-based McBride Orthopedic Hospital's new ASC.

Wilmington, N.C.-based EmergeOrtho celebrated the groundbreaking of a new medical office building with an ASC in Leland, N.C.

Providence, R.I.-based University Orthopedics opened a 90,000-square-foot medical office and surgery center in East Providence, R.I.

San Diego-based Olympus Orthopedics founder and orthopedic surgeon Oke Anakwenze, MD, reported his practice is launching a new surgical center, Advanced Surgery Center of North County, in Escondido, Calif.

Madison, Miss.-based Capital Ortho planned to open a full-service outpatient surgery center and onsite physical therapy clinic in the fall of 2018.

Minneapolis-based Twin Cities Orthopedics opened a 48,000-square-foot facility in Blaine, Minn., June 11, 2018. The clinic houses the Blaine Orthopedic Surgery Center.

Muncie-based Central Indiana Orthopedics is constructing a 37-acre medical campus with a surgery center and medical office space.

Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, N.C., plans to build an 18,000-square-foot ASC that will accommodate the hospital's orthopedic surgeons. Construction will begin in March 2019.

Hartford, Conn.-based St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center and Hartford-based Lighthouse Surgery Center plan to open the Orthopedic and Spine Surgery Center in Hartford, a 33,000-square-foot facility with six operating rooms and a procedure room. Construction on the $26.5 million ASC began Sept. 14, 2018.

Las Vegas-based Mountain's Edge Hospital is expanding to add an orthopedic surgery center. The 19,135-square-foot Mountain's Edge Hospital Orthopedic Surgery Center is expected to be completed March 2019.

Orthopedic Associates of Hartford opened a $30 million facility in Rocky Hill, Conn. It features a surgery center and medical office space.

Construction began in November 2018 on the $50 million Baylor Scott & White Sports and Orthopedic Center in Waco, Texas. The new facility will include a surgery center for orthopedic procedures, located in the same campus as medical practices and rehabilitation services. The center is expected to be completed in 2019.

Albany, N.Y.-based OrthoNY finished building its $5.3 million surgery center in Clifton Park, N.Y., in late November 2018.

Fort Worth-based Texas Health Orthopedic Surgery Center held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its new facility Oct. 16, 2018

Franklin-based Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee physicians and Franklin-based Williamson Medical Center's certificate of need application to build a surgery center was approved.

Hplex Solutions' proposed $5.3 million orthopedic center in Newark, Ohio received community support during a Granville Village Council Meeting Oct. 4, 2018. A 19,500-square-foot orthopedic and physical rehabilitation facility would be the first phase of a larger medical development complex. The second phase would include primary care and a surgery center.

Newport News, Va.-based Orthopaedic & Spine Center broke ground on a medical office building with an ASC.
