11 ASC quality statistics for Q3 2017

For the third quarter of 2017, from July 1 to Sept. 30, the ASC Quality Collaboration released quality report numbers based on data from 1,484 ASCs.

The data covers 566 single specialty and 918 multispecialty ASCs. Key findings in the data include:

1. Patient fall rate: 0.122 per 1,000 admissions

2. Burn rate: 0.019 per 1,000 admissions

3. All cause hospital transfers and admissions: 0.955 per 1,000 admissions

4. Wrong site, side, patient, procedure, implant: 0.032 per 1,000 admissions

5. Prophylactic IV antibiotic timing: 99 percent of ASC admissions

6. Appropriate surgical site hair removal: 94 percent

7. Eligible ASC patients with normotheria: 98

8. Cataract surgery patients with unplanned anterior vitrectomy: 0.44 percent

9. Toxic anterior segment syndrome rate: 0.31 per 1,000 anterior segment surgery patients

10. All cause emergency department visits within one day of discharge: 0.69 per 1,000 admissions

11. All cause unplanned hospital admissions within one day of discharge: 0.36 per 1,000 admissions
