Florida saw the largest year-over-year increase in the average annual salary for ophthalmologists from 2024 to 2025, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Across the U.S., the average annual salary for ophthalmologists grew $3,150, slightly increasing from $301,500 in 2024 to $304,650 in 2025.

In total, 18 states experienced year-over-year compensation increases for the profession. 

The agency updated compensation data May 15 to reflect 2025 information, the latest available.
