Robert Daroff, MD, a neuro-ophthalmologist at Cleveland-based University Hospitals, has died at 88, according to a Jan. 21 report from Cleveland.com. 

SightMD Connecticut acquired a multi-location ophthalmology practice in the state.

The ASC market is estimated to grow by $25.4 billion through 2028, according to a Jan. 16 market report fromTechnavio. 

The University of Southern California/LA General Medical Center in Los Angeles and the University of Illinois Chicago have partnered with global nonprofit HelpMeSee to establish simulation-based surgical training locations.

President Joe Biden has signed into law a bill adding optometry to the physician pay scale as part of the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act.

Cory Smith, MD, formerly employed by Pueblo, Colo.-based Rocky Mountain Eye Center, has opened his own clinic, also in Pueblo, KOAA News 5 reported Jan. 6.
