OCLI Vision is adding Floral Park, N.Y.-based Comprehensive Eye MD to its practice, Spectrum Vision Partners said Oct. 5.

Cathleen McCabe, MD, became the first in Manatee and Sarasota, Fla., counties to implant RXSight's light-adjustable lens, Florida-based practice the Eye Associates said in an Oct. 3 LinkedIn post.

Ophthalmologist Omar Shakir, MD, opened a cataract surgery suite in Greenwich, Conn., Greenwich Time reported Oct. 4. 

Sarasota, Fla.-based US Eye recently added the Retina Center of Charleston (S.C.) to its network, its 50th location, the company said Sept. 30.

The next few years will be pivotal for the survival of independent eye practices and surgery centers, as many are joining larger organizations and private equity groups.

The FDA has approved a ranibizumab biosimilar, its first ophthalmologic biosimilar, according to a Sept. 20 report from the Center for Biosimilars.
