Annapolis, Md.-based ophthalmology group Vision Innovation Partners acquired Harrisburg, Pa.-based Memorial Eye Institute.

St. Louis-based ophthalmology and optometry group EyeCare Partners acquired Sabates Eye Centers, based in Kansas City, Mo., Kansas City Business Journal said Jan. 6.

Garden City, N.Y.-based OCLI Vision acquired Dailey Harvey Eye Associates in Camp Hill, Pa.

Robert Wiggins Jr., MD, has begun his one-year term as president of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Newswise reported Jan. 6. 

Ophthalmic medical device company RxSight has added Tamara Fountain, MD, and Shweta Singh Maniar to its board of directors, the company said Jan. 4. 

The University of California San Diego Shiley Eye Institute received a $10 million donation from philanthropist Darlene Shiley, Times of San Diego reported Jan. 4. 

Spectrum Vision Partners has expanded its Pennsylvania footprint with the addition of Associates in Ophthalmology to the OCLI Vision network, the Garden City, N.Y.-based organization said Jan. 4.

Vision Innovation Partners, a provider of ophthalmology, optometry and optician services in the Mid-Atlantic region, has acquired Bel-Air, Md.-based Advanced Eye Care, Vision Innovation Partners said Jan. 2. 

Stan Truhlsen, MD, an ophthalmology leader and former professor at the Omaha-based University of Nebraska Medical Center, died Dec. 23 at the age of 101.
