Ophthalmologist Dr. Terry Sorom Receives Luther College Distinguished Service Award

Retired ophthalmologist Terry Sorom, MD, has received the Luther College Distinguished Service Award, according to a news release.

 

The award, one of the highest honors bestowed by the Decorah, Iowa college, is given in recognition of success and achievements in professional fields, service to society, contributions to community and loyalty and service to Luther.

 

Dr. Sorom, who lives in Wenatchee, Wash., is a graduate of the Luther class of 1962.

 

Dr. Sorom received his MD from University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. He then interned at University of Oregon Medical School and Hospitals, and later competed a residency at University of Oregon. In 1973, he joined the Eye and Ear Clinic in Wenatchee, and retired from the practice in 2000.

 

Dr. Sorom served on the board of directors both for Blue Cross of Washington and Alaska, and was president of the Oregon Ophthalmology Alumni Association and of the Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
