The review of femtosecond LASIK procedures on 72 eyes by trainees and 157 eyes by attending surgeons found visual acuity was much better on the first postoperative day for the experienced surgeon group, though there was no significant difference between the two groups after one day.
Trainee procedures’ postoperative complications, such as microstriae and interface debris, were more than 10 percent more common than complications in the attending group, but these were not visually significant.
