Dr. Patricia D’Amore Named Director of Research at MA’s Schepens Eye Research Institute

Patricia D’Amore, PhD, has been named director of research at Massachusetts Eye and Ear’s Schepens Eye Research Institute in Boston, according to a news release.

She is professor of ophthalmology and pathology at Harvard Medical School, HMS ophthalmology vice chair of basic research and senior scientist and Ankeny Scholar of Retinal Molecular Biology at Schepens.

 

As director of research, her responsibilities will include shaping Schepens’ research goals and objectives, crafting the scientific policy development and priorities, mentoring faculty and overseeing faculty career development and promotion, and building collaborative relationships.

 

Founded in 1950 by retinal surgeon Charles L. Schepens, MD, the Schepens Eye Research Institute, Massachusetts Eye and Ear is one of the largest eye research institutes in the nation. Its focus includes developing new technologies, therapies and knowledge to retain and restore vision.
