The iStent treatment is an FDA-approved device to use in conjunction with standard cataract surgery for patients who also have mild-to-moderate open-angle glaucoma. It is the smallest device approved for such use and has been shown to reduce eye pressure.
Dr. Mayer completed his ophthalmology residency at Yale University School of Medicine's department of ophthalmology in New Haven, Conn. He is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist.
