Minnesota Eye Surgery Center Performs Free Cataract Surgeries on Uninsured

Physicians with Minnesota Eye Consultants performed free cataract surgery on 10 patients last week, with another 10 surgeries scheduled soon, according to a KARE11 report.

Thomas Samuelson, MD, and his team at Minnesota Eye Consultants have been providing free eye surgeries two Saturdays per year for under- or uninsured patients through Operation Eyesight.

The surgeries take about 10-20 minutes and cost about $75,000-$100,000 per day. The surgery center also performs free surgeries for glaucoma, corneal transplants and more.
