Morgantown, W.Va.-based WVU Medicine has broken ground on the $16 million Robert Sonneborn Family WVU Medicine Children’s Outpatient Center at Wheeling (W.Va.) Hospital, according to an Aug.12 WTOV 9 report.

The 17,000-square-foot facility will combine wellness care, specialty visits, imaging, lab work and an after-hours clinic in one location, a first for the region.

Construction is expected to be completed in 2026, when the center will begin serving pediatric patients from West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
