Here are six things to know:
1. The facility will be the largest ophthalmology-dedicated ASC in Iowa. It will be built directly east of Wolf Eye Clinic’s West Des Moines, Iowa-based clinic.
2. It will house the Wolfe Surgery Center, which is currently located in the 38,000-square-foot, $6.5 million West Des Moines location.
3. The new facility will enable Wolfe Eye Clinic to bring new physicians onboard and redesign its current building.
4. Wolfe Eye Clinic performs more than 6,500 surgeries per year out of its current location. The new facility could double the practice’s volume.
5. Construction should be complete by summer of 2019.
6. Wolfe Eye Clinic’s 45 physicians specialize in cataract and refractive surgery, cornea and external disease, glaucoma, pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus, oculoplastics, and medical and surgical retina.
