UB Neurosurgery in New York to construct $7.8M ASC: 5 things to know

A Buffalo, N.Y.-based neurosurgery practice plans to build an ASC as part of a larger expansion, according to Buffalo Business First.

Here are five things to know:

1. UB Neurosurgery will construct an ASC estimated to cost $7.8 million, located behind its new medical facility currently under construction. Costs for the medical facility are expected to reach $25 million, and it will also include an imaging clinic, physical therapy and a rehabilitation institute.

2. The new surgery center is expected to span 25,000 square feet and include four operating rooms as well as two procedure rooms.

3. Seven physicians and an administrator own the facility, which will be focused on neurosurgical procedures. The ASC is expected to open within a year.

4. UB Neurosurgery is affiliated with the University at Buffalo, part of the UBMD Physicians’ Group. According to the report, many procedures will stay in the hospital and the group will remain partners with the hospital.

5. The New York Department of Health and Public Health and Planning Council still need to approve the project.
