Physician Partners of America opens surgery center — 4 insights

Tampa, Fla.-based Physician Partners of America opened an outpatient surgery center March 8 at its 30,000-square-foot Merritt Island (Fla.) Medical Pavilion.

Four insights:

1. The 9,824-square-foot Merritt Island Outpatient Surgery Center has two operating rooms and one procedure suite. Christi Geiger, RN, serves as the surgery center’s administrator.

2. Stefan Prada, MD, who comes from the now-defunct Laser Spine Institute in Tampa, will perform minimally invasive laser spine procedures at Merritt Island Outpatient Surgery Center.

3. PPOA is seeking partnerships with local orthopedic and ophthalmology specialists to offer additional procedures at the center. Currently, PPOA physicians are performing pain management and spine cases at the facility.

4. PPOA also plans to open an outpatient surgery center at a separate medical pavilion in Orlando, Fla.
