New ASC Development

Southern Ear, Nose, Throat and Allergy Physicians is building a 21,000-square-foot flagship facility that includes an ASC in Columbia, S.C.

Lestonnac Free Clinic, a nonprofit in Orange, Calif., is opening a free outpatient surgery center for patients with a low income and no health insurance, ABC affiliate KABC reported June 21.

Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital will open the Geisinger Surgery Center-Highland Park in Mifflin County, Pa., according to a June 23 report by The Lewistown Sentinel. 

Here are three ASCs opening in the Midwest that Becker's has reported on since June 5:

Western Wisconsin is gaining its first multispecialty ASC, the Valley Surgery Center, which had a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 12, according to a June 22 report from the Star-Observer.

The Joint Replacement Center of Louisiana opened in Lake Charles on June 20, according to ASC management company Compass Surgical Partners. 

The Urbandale (Iowa) City Council approved a plan to build a 12,000-square-foot medical office building, according to a June 21 report from BusinessRecord.

The Southern ASC market has been a hotspot for years — ASCs in that region earn the most revenue and perform the most cases of any region in the country. 

Inspired Spine SurgCenter has opened an ASC with an AI program in Burnsville, Minn., according to a June 20 report from the Observer. 

Several healthcare organizations have expressed interest in investing time and money into ASCs, but Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health is turning those ideas into action.
