Here are 12 ASCs that opened or announced expansions in 2020:

Leawood, Kan.-based ValueHealth is developing a total joint-focused surgery center in Chadds Ford, Pa., the company announced Jan. 12.

Baptist Health Louisville (Ky.) is building an outpatient center on the former site of a local hotel, local ABC affiliate WHAS reported Jan. 11.

Cheryl Stanski, MD, is a general surgeon and the medical director at Holston Medical Group's Kingsport, Tenn.-based MeadowView Surgery Center.

Here are four hospitals and health systems that opened or announced plans for ASCs in December:

Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente is developing a $500 million facility in Seattle, but the COVID-19 pandemic altered what may be in the final development plan, the Puget Sound Business Journal reported Jan. 10.

Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute is developing a 371,000-square-foot healthcare facility in Orlando, Fla., that'll feature an outpatient surgery center, Rebusinessonline reported Jan. 8.

Towson, Md.-based SurgCenter Development is scouting locations in Maryland to develop an ASC.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control on Jan. 7 approved a proposal from two Orangeburg, S.C., physicians to build a $12.5 million ASC, The Times and Democrat reported.

Towson, Md.-based SurgCenter Development is moving forward with a new ASC development in New Hampshire, its first of 2021.
