New ASC Development

An orthopedic ASC being built in Tennessee is on track to open in 2022, and developers reached a milestone in construction, according to a June 17 announcement.

Mobile, Ala.-based USA Health received approval to build a surgery center almost a year after it sought state approval for the facility, according to a June 16 announcement.

Here are 15 hospitals and health systems that opened or announced plans for an ASC in May:

Leawood, Kan.-based ValueHealth is partnering with Boca Raton-based Ortho Florida for a network of orthopedic-focused ASCs, according to a June 15 news release. 

Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins Health Care & Surgery Center is planning three new ASCs, according to a June 14 email from the health system. 

The Center for Special Surgery broke ground on a $26 million medical campus with an ASC in West Fargo, N.D., according to a June 11 news release. 

Florida is leading the charge with 11 ASCs opened or announced in 2021 so far. 

St. Augustine, Fla.-based Flagler Health broke ground June 11 on a campus with an ASC, the health system said.  

Gilbert, Ariz.-based Comprehensive Surgical Care began construction on an ASC in Flagstaff, Ariz., its third in the state, according to an email from the company.

A Texas orthopedic surgeon received approval June 10 to build an ASC and medical office building in Fredericksburg, according to Virtual Builders Exchange.
