New ASC Development

Cincinnati-based Mercy Health is taking over the formerly privately run Canfield (Ohio) Surgery Center, WKBN reported June 23. 

Moose Lake (Minn.) City Council approved the rezoning of a former Shopko building from commercial to medical, making way for a possible ASC, the Moose Lake Star Gazette reported June 17. 

Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus will begin construction on an orthopedic and surgery center later this year, NBC4i.com reports.

Arizona became an ASC stronghold through private equity, hospital gaps and the state's deep-rooted history of opening ASCs, according to Arizona ASC leaders.  

Brentwood Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, TriStar Division, is building an ASC, according to a June 23 email to Becker's ASC Review. 

In the past month, Raleigh, N.C.-based Compass Surgical Partners announced two new joint-venture ASCs.

Animas Surgical Center at Escalante in Colo. will open toward the end of June.

Urbana, Ill.-based Carle Health broke ground June 17 on a $70 million medical campus with an ASC, according to a news release. 

Watauga Orthopaedics, a 20-physician group, will break ground on a $17 million ASC June 22, Time News reports. 

Compass Surgical Partners is opening two ASCs in Raleigh, N.C., and Odessa, Fla., the company announced.
