New ASC Development

Construction of Urbana, Ill.-based Carle Health's $70 million facility with an ASC is moving along, Commercial News reported Jan. 20. 

Baltimore, Md.-based Johns Hopkins Hospital is renovating its children's medical and surgical center and building a 12-story addition.  

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Vascular Institute has opened a clinic in Dayton, Tenn., The Chattanoogan said Jan. 17.

Here are 11 hospitals and health systems that opened or announced plans for ASCs in December:

Tyler, Texas-based Christus Trinity Mother Frances and Pediatric Surgical Associates are teaming up to open an outpatient clinic and offer ambulatory surgery, the Longview News-Journal reported Jan. 13. 

Lee Health is opening a women’s cardiac surgery center at its Fort Myers, Fla.-based Shipley Cardiothoracic Center in February, Naples Daily News reported Jan. 12. 

An 11-building portfolio of medical offices in Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, North Carolina, North Dakota and Wisconsin was sold by real estate manager Ryan Companies, the Minneapolis/St.Paul Business Journal reported Jan. 10.

A proposed $3 million independent ASC in Colchester, Vt., is scheduled for review this month, the VTDigger reported Jan. 11. 

Iowa City, Iowa-based Steindler Orthopedic Clinic and an unnamed hospital system bumped their joint plan to build an ASC, but the $19.2 million ASC proposal will proceed without the hospital for now, The Gazette reported Jan. 10. 

Great Falls (Mont.) Clinic has planned a $7 million surgery center expansion, Great Falls Tribune reported Jan. 8.
