New ASC Development

The Peoria (Ariz.) City Council approved the sale of a $3.4 million plot of land to Scottsdale, Ariz.-based HonorHealth, Peoria Times reported Feb. 25.

Former Atlantic Records CFO Sheldon Vogel donated $10 million to Long Branch, N.J.-based Monmouth Medical Center for an outpatient center in Eatontown, N.J., that's expected to open in March, Asbury Park Press reported Feb. 21.

Blacksburg, Va.-based LewisGale Hospital Montgomery broke ground on a $15.9 million surgery center project, The Roanoke Times reported Feb. 24.

The Oneida (N.Y.) County Industrial Development Agency held a public hearing for a plan to use eminent domain on behalf of the Mohawk Valley Health System, Utica Observer-Dispatch reported Feb. 24.

Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser, Universal Health Services, George Washington University and Children's National Hospital broke ground on a medical center with an ambulatory pavilion.

Wichita-based Kansas Surgery & Recovery Center is planning a $1.6 million outpatient expansion, Wichita Business Journal reported Feb. 22. 

Mayo Clinic is building a hospital connected to a cancer and surgery center in La Crosse, Wis., Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reported Feb. 22. 

Mesa, Ariz.-based Surgery Center Services of America has plans to open six ASCs in the next year, CEO Philip Blair told Becker's ASC Review. 

Boston-based Mass General Brigham's controversial $400 million plan to build three ASCs would bring lower-cost care to Massachusetts communities, John Fernandez, MD, president of Mass Eye and Ear, wrote in a Feb. 21 piece in Mass Live. 

Several ASCs owned by joint ventures have been opened or announced in 2022 so far.
