Northeast Georgia Health System aims to open ASC in 2021 — 5 highlights

Gainesville, Ga.-based Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking state approval to build an ASC in Braselton, Ga., the Gainesville Times reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. The ASC would be on Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s Braselton campus on the first floor of a new medical building.

2. The center’s surgeons would specialize in general surgery, spine care and orthopedics.

3. NGHS expects a decision from the Georgia Department of Community Health in March 2019.

4. The ASC could open in spring 2021.

5. NGMC Braselton opened in April 2015. Plans for the medical campus always included a surgery center, according to NGHS President of System Acute and Post-acute Operations Louis Smith.
