Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide Children’s Hospital has received approval from the New Albany (Ohio) Planning Commission to move forward with a 170,000-square-foot outpatient medical center.

The four-story facility, expected to open in 2027, will be built on 25 acres donated by the family of billionaire Les Wexner. It will provide urgent care services, diagnostic testing, specialty clinics, and physical, occupational and speech therapy, according to an Aug.19 report by The Columbus Dispatch

The center will be part of Nationwide’s “Close to Home” network — community-based outpatient sites designed to bring pediatric care closer to families outside the hospital’s main campus. The system operates 26 such centers across Ohio, offering services ranging from urgent care and laboratory testing to therapy and specialty clinics.

The New Albany project also includes a 16,000-square-foot utility plant, nearly 9 acres of parkland and open space, and a 496-space parking lot.
