Judge dismisses lawsuit to block tax district for Missouri surgery center — 3 insights

A circuit court judge dismissed a lawsuit which challenged a recently implemented Community Improvement District to benefit Houston, Mo.-based Texas County Memorial Hospital’s surgery center, the Houston Herald reports.

What you should know:

1. The CID created a temporary quarter-cent tax to benefit TCMH. TCMH is building a surgery center to modernize its 40-year-old surgical wing. The CID went into effect in November 2018.

2. Upton, Mo.-based resident George Sholtz sued saying TCMH allegedly used a false assessment for its property.

3. Judge William Hickle dismissed the suit and ruled other motions were moot.
