Watson Clinic Surgery Center South in South Lakeland, Fla., performed its first set of surgeries Sept. 21, with Watson Clinic hand surgery specialist Rachel Lefebvre, MD, and her team conducting the procedures.
The outpatient surgery center is designed to house procedures across specialties including hand surgery, orthopedic surgery, breast surgery, general surgery, OB-GYN, otolaryngology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, podiatric surgery and urology, according to a Sept. 22 news release from the facility.
The initial surgeries preceded an accreditation process by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Once accreditation is received, the facility will open for a range of surgical procedures on a full-time basis, the release said.
