Conway (S.C.) Ophthalmology Associates' Charles Proctor, MD, received city approval for a new office building and surgery center, myhorrynews.com reports.

Here's what you should know:

1. The ophthalmology-only surgery center will be located in Conway, across from Conway Ophthalmology Associates' current space.

2. VP Investments, which owns the land and building, will lease space to the Surgery Center of Conway and Conway Ophthalmology Associates. Dr. Proctor and George Magrath, MD, will practice at both.

3. The project is expected to take eight months to complete, with construction beginning in late September.

4. The center will offer cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, surgery for ocular surface neoplasias, corneal surgery, refractive surgery, plastic and reconstructive eyelid surgery and lacrimal surgery.

5. Currently, residents must travel to Grande Dunes Surgery Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Georgetown, S.C., or Florence, S.C., for eye surgery.
