Cincinnati hospital appealing denied CON for $23M ASC — 3 insights

Cincinnati-based Christ Hospital is appealing a decision that denied it a certificate of need to construct an ASC in Fort Mitchell, Ky., the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Three things you should know:

1. Christ Hospital’s sought a CON to build a $23 million ASC in Fort Mitchell. The proposal was denied by a Kentucky judge after Fort Mitchell-based St. Elizabeth Healthcare issued a challenge.

2. Christ filed an appeal. The Fort Mitchell Common Council will meet Jan. 28 to consider the project.

3. If approved, the ASC will anchor the Fort Mitchell Gateway Project, which could include a hotel, restaurants, retail businesses and apartments. The city is interested in pursuing the development with or without the ASC.
