The 469,000-square-foot outpatient center is the largest in the country, and will include an ASC, 240 exam rooms, two MRI machines, optometry services, 34 dental chairs and specialty health services.
The Indian Health Service is providing $100 million for staffing and operating costs per year for the center in a joint venture with the Cherokee Nation, which invested $200 million of its general fund dollars into the center’s construction and equipment.
Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr., Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner, Tribal Council Speaker Joe Byrd, Indian Health Service Deputy Director Rear Adm. Chris Buchanan, Cherokee Nation Businesses Executive Chairman Bill John Baker and Cherokee Nation Health Services interim Executive Director Dr. Stephen Jones are scheduled to attend the ceremony.
