2 physicians turning $4.1M facility into cardiovascular clinic, surgery center — 5 key details

David Allie, MD, and Raghotham Patlola, MD, are turning a long-vacant facility in Lafayette, La., into a cardiovascular clinic housing four different practices and procedures, according to the Lafayette Daily Advertiser.

Five key details:

1. Dr. Allie, a cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon, and Dr. Patlola, an interventional cardiologist, bought the former Park Place Medical Center from Lafayette-based Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in May for $4.1 million, The Acadiana Advocate reported.

2. Under their ownership, the 40,000-square-foot medical center will be called the Allie and Patiola Medical Center. It will feature a 10,000-square-foot surgery center for acute procedures such as pacemakers and coronary stents, and a hyperbaric chamber will be installed in 2020.

"This has been a dream of ours for a very long time," Dr. Allie told a reporter from the Lafayette Daily Advertiser. "Our vision was to create a place where patients could receive advanced procedures and go home the same day. Technology and procedures have advanced so quickly in the last five years and that is why this is possible."

3. Austin, Texas-based Arise Vascular plans to occupy space in the medical center this spring. It will move its primary training center into the facility and operate a 5,000-square-foot catheterization laboratory in the building.

4. Along with training its own employees, Arise will teach other providers about limb salvage and cardiovascular care in the outpatient setting. Arise Vascular CEO Jared Leger said the outpatient approach differentiates Arise from other groups.

5. Arise Vascular has established three facilities in Louisiana's Acadiana region since opening its first outpatient cardiovascular clinic in 2014 in Lafayette.
