A Catalyst study found humility to be a “significant indicator” of altruistic leadership, after only empowerment, according to Business News Daily.

Here are five insights:

1. Contrary to its frequent association with weakness, leadership experts argue humility means an individual fully grasps their strengths and weakness while reading strengths and weaknesses in others.

2. The Catalyst study revealed humble leaders focus on employee inclusion, spurring more employee innovation.

3. Leaders must find the equilibrium between humility and confidence, though. Without confidence, leaders will not be able to inspire others and ensure production.

4. Bates, a leadership development organization, asked leading executives across the globe for the 15 most important leadership qualities. The study ranked humility and confidence among the top qualities.

5. Experts recommend leaders take painful experiences in stride, learning from the processes and outcomes.
