Dermatology and orthopedics are the most appealing specialties for attracting medical students and residents over the next three years, each cited by 54% of physicians surveyed, according to Medscape’s “Most Popular Specialties for Doctors” report published April 21. 

Medscape surveyed 5,916 physicians across more than 29 specialties from Sept. 5 to Dec. 17.

Here’s a breakdown of the most appealing physician specialties for the next three years:

  • Emergency medicine: 27%
