Kaiser Permanente expanded robotic surgery to its Tysons Corner Ambulatory Surgery Center in McLean, Va., giving the health system two robotic-capable ASCs within its seven-facility Mid-Atlantic network, according to an Inside Nova article sponsored by Kaiser Permanente and written by Kaiser surgeon Gao Chen, MD.
Surgeons at Tysons Corner use the da Vinci robotic surgical system to perform minimally invasive procedures in general surgery (hernia repair, gallbladder removal and reflux surgery), women’s health, according to the article.
Kaiser Permanente’s Largo, Md., ASC became the first civilian freestanding ASC in the Mid-Atlantic region to perform robotic surgery in 2020 and has since completed more than 1,500 robotic procedures, the article said. Tysons Corner also offers Sonata, an incisionless radiofrequency treatment for uterine fibroids, and minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery.
