Here are two ASC industry leadership moves that Becker's has reported on since May 16:

Christine Blackburn, BSN, RN, administrator of South Kansas City Surgicenter in Overland Park, Kan., is Becker's ASC Administrator of the Week. 

The six largest ASC chains represent a combined network of 33,000 physicians and more than 1,000 locations. 

Tips for a Hospital Administrator on Bone Graft Selection

Plastic surgeons are the happiest physicians outside of work, a Feb. 24 Medscape report found. 

Fifty-two percent of hospital physicians would take a pay cut for a better work-life balance, according to Medscape's "Hospitalist Lifestyle & Happiness Report 2023" released Feb. 22. 

Thomas Frist Jr., MD, co-founder and shareholder of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, tops the list of billionaires in U.S. healthcare, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index as of Feb. 21. 

While the healthcare industry is consolidating, the ASC industry remains mostly fragmented — with some ASC chains focusing on smaller ASCs rather than accumulating substantial market share.  

Daniel Larose, MD, is worried that increasing Medicaid coverage  is hurting ASCs' access to specific markets. 

Michael Powers, administrator of Children's West Surgery Center in Knoxville, Tenn., is Becker's ASC Administrator of the Week.
