As the population becomes increasingly vaccinated and elective surgeries resume, ASCs are working to figure out how the industry and individual facilities will adapt to changing rules and regulations.

The Surgical Center at Columbia (Mo.) Orthopaedic Group was ranked in Newsweek's top 10 ASCs of 2021. Andrew Lovewell, the center's administrator, was a key player in the ASC's success despite the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Beverly Hills, Calif.-based 90210 Surgery Medical Center was ranked in Newsweek's top 10 ASCs of 2021. The ASC's leaders noted that while the pandemic was a challenge, it provided key insights on surgery migration and leadership. 

Nine out of Newsweek's 15 best ASCs in America in 2021 were in California. Becker's ASC Review spoke with Elizabeth LaBouyer, RN, the executive director of the California Ambulatory Surgery Association, on the state's success.
