Here are five things to know.
1. Mr. Cowhey has worked for Aetna since 2007, most recently as CFO of the company’s institution business portfolio and previously as CFO of Aetna’s consumer health and services business.
2. Mr. Cowhey managed Aetna’s investor relations, corporate development and treasury functions in other roles with the company.
3. Before joining Aetna, Mr. Cowhey worked in investment banking.
4. “His strong financial expertise and experience across corporate finance, risk management, M&A, and business operations will position him well to support our next phase of development,” said Surgery Partners CEO Wayne DeVeydt.
5. David Kretschmer has been serving as interim CFO for Surgery Partners.
