The New York Stem Cell Foundation recognized Roy Geronemus, MD, as one of its three "Stem Cell Heroes," at the organization's 12th annual Science Fair and Gala in New York City, Oct. 16.
Here's what you should know:
1. The society recognized Dr. Geronemus for his "visionary commitment, support and advocacy for NYSCF's pioneering stem cell research."
2. Dr. Geronemus is the director of New York City-based Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York. He is renowned for his laser treatment and research work.
3. Dr. Geronemus said in a release, "I am honored to be the recipient of this year’s leadership award. The importance of stem cell research cannot be understated. I will continue to work alongside the NYSCF with the goal that the research we provide will help those with severe and currently untreatable or incurable conditions."
