Houston-based HCA Healthcare's Gulf Coast Division supported the March of Dimes' 2018 Walk for Babies event surpassing its $150,000 fundraising goal and raising $282,600.

Here's what you should know.

1. More than 800 HCA participants donated to the fundraiser. The total does not include the sponsorship dollars donated by the HCA Gulf Coast Division to help the March of Dimes fight the challenges faced by premature babies and their families.

2. The total amount raised has not yet been made available, but it's believed the event surpassed its $2 million fundraising goal.

3. Houston-based The Woman's Hospital of Texas CEO and 2018 Event Chairman Ashley McClellan said, "I am so proud and grateful for everyone and our HCA family who supported our shared mission to achieve this amazing result. … Houston's walk is the largest in the nation, and our HCA Gulf Coast Division family of hospitals came together to support healthy moms and strong babies. I am honored to have led such a historic year for the Houston March for Babies."
