1. Researchers examined how navigators attempted to eliminate barriers to colonoscopy screening in a disadvantaged community.
2. The researchers analyzed service delivery and survey data from 420 patients at Boston Medical Center between 2012 to 2014.
3. During a colonoscopy navigators spent more of their time evaluating barriers to care, scheduling appointments and later reminding patients of their appointments, educating patients about their colonoscopy and arranging transportation for patients to get to their colonoscopy.
4. On average, navigators spend a total of 44 minutes per patient.
