The one-year program — the only colorectal surgery fellowship to have been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education in Colorado — will add its first fellow in 2025, according to an April 30 news release from the university.
Jon Vogel, MD, a CU professor, will serve as director of the fellowship, which will be staffed by CU faculty members Elisa Birnbaum, MD, Shane McNevin, MD, Edward Jones, MD, and Amber Moyer, MD, according to the release.
“We have a great and diverse practice of colorectal surgery that includes the full spectrum of benign and malignant diseases,” Dr. Vogel said in the release. “We will be able to provide an exceptional educational experience, with high volumes of open, laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, and the shared experiences of our seasoned faculty.”
