The GI procedures eligible for UnitedHealthcare’s new gold card program

On Sept. 1, UnitedHealthcare released a list of procedures that will be eligible for its new physician gold-card program.

The program aims to save patients and providers time by allowing qualifying providers to skip the prior authorization process for a number of procedure codes. The program is set to launch Oct. 1. 

Here are the gastroenterology procedures, and their codes, that will be eligible for the new program:

74261: CT colonography DX image post process without contrast

74262: CT colonography DX image post process with contrast 

74263: CT colonography screening image postprocessing 

76975: GI endoscopic ultrasound S&I

78264: Gastric emptying imaging study    

78265: Gastric emptying image STD with small bowel transit

78266: Gastric emptying image study with small bowel colon transit

78261: Gastric mucosa imaging          

78262: Gastroesophageal reflux study                

78278: Acute gastrointestinal blood loss imaging     

78282: Gastrointestinal protein loss                  

78290: Intestine imaging
