Texas Center for Obesity Surgery Sues UnitedHealthcare of Texas Over Alleged $900K in Missed Reimbursement

Texas Center for Obesity Surgery, based in Plano, has alleged UnitedHealthcare of Texas owes the center more than $900,000 that it refuses to reimburse, according to a Law360 report.

According to the surgery center, the insurer refuses to reimburse costs for additional medical help during a weight-loss procedure, after previously approving the use of assistant surgeons.

The center alleges UnitedHealthcare of Texas owes more than $900,000 for the use of assistant surgeons during 57 laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy procedures.
