Takeda Pharmaceutical, New York Academy of Sciences establish $200k research prize: 3 notes

Osaka, Japan-based Takeda Pharmaceutical and the New York Academy of Sciences have established the Takeda Innovators in Science Award.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. The award will recognize innovative research done in Takeda Pharmaceutical’s four areas of focus: gastroenterology, oncology, neuroscience and regenerative medicine.

2. The New York Academy of Sciences will administer the award on behalf of Takeda Pharmaceutical, including the solicitation of nominations and overseeing all selections.

3. The society will announce two $200,000 awards each year; one award will go to an early-career scientist and one award will go to a well-established scientist.

The nomination period for the inaugural prizes is slated to open March 2017. These winners will be honored in November 2017.
