Rex, MD, director of endoscopy at Indiana University Hospital and professor of medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, presented the findings of a study comparing colon capsule endoscopy with optical colonoscopy, according to a Gastroenterology & Endoscopy News report.
The study concluded that while colon capsule endoscopy is a viable option for patients that are not candidates for optical colonoscopy, it has not replaced colonoscopy as the gold standard.
