Society of Thoracic Surgeons Releases New Clinical Guidelines for Esophageal Cancer

The Society of Thoracic Surgeons has released a new set of clinical guidelines for the diagnosis and staging of esophageal cancer, according to a study recently published in The Annals of Thoracic Surgery.

The clinical guidelines state that flexible endoscopy with a biopsy should be the primary means of diagnosing esophageal cancer.

The guidelines also include seven recommendations for the staging of esophageal cancer.
