Silver Cross Hospital implements new procedure for Barrett’s Esophagus: 3 insights

Kamran Ayub, MD, performed a Hybrid APC procedure to treat Barrett’s esophagus at New Lenox, Ill.-based Silver Cross Hospital, the Daily Southtown reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. The procedure allowed, Dr. Ayub to use a high pressure water jet to raise esophageal mucus membrane providing a water cushion before thermal ablation.

2. This technique allows for providers to treat Barrett’s esophagus through argon gas use, while preserving the healthy tissue.

3. Dr. Ayub has performed more than 30 Hybrid APC procedures.
