GI leader to know: Dr. Dermot McGovern of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

Dermot McGovern, MD, is a gastroenterologist at Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. McGovern specializes in inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer among others.

He began his career after earning his medical degree from London, England-based St. Mary’s Medical School. He completed his internship and residency at Gloucester, England-based Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and his fellowship at Bristol, England-based University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust. He completed postdoctoral work at South West Peninsula Deanery and a second fellowship at England-based Oxford University.

Dr. McGovern is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association.

He served on the editorial board of the Journal of Crohns and Colitis and IBD Journal.

Dr. McGovern is Royal College of Physicians of London fellow.
