Seasoned COO joins 24-physician gastroenterology practice

University Gastroenterology installed Jonathan Friedman as chief operating officer, the Providence Journal reports.

Three quick notes:

1. Mr. Friedman possesses 25-plus years of healthcare administration experience. He most recently served as COO at Integrated Medical Partners, a medical billing services company.

2. Mr. Friedman spent 14 years as COO of Somnia, a New Rochelle, N.Y.-based anesthesia services provider that he helped grow from seven physicians to more than 350 physicians.

3. University Gastroenterology is a 24-physician practice with four Rhode Island locations: two in Providence, one in Portsmouth and one in East Greenwich.
