SAGES Announces Guidelines for 2 GERD Endoluminal Therapies

The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons has announced recommendations for two different endoluminal therapies designed to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease, according to a General Surgery News report.

SAGES supports the use of Stretta, a radiofrequency ablation treatment therapy from Mederi Therapeutics, as a treatment for GERD.

The SAGES review board gave a “weak” recommendation for EsophyX, an EndoGastric Solutions transoral incisionless fundoplication therapy, for the treatment of GERD due to less than promising outcomes.
