Researchers Identify Glycan Fingerprint for Stomach Cancer Risk in H. pylori Patients

In a recent study published in Cancer Prevention Research, researchers identified a serum glycan that has the potential to serve a diagnostic tool that would differentiate between patients with gastric cancer and patients with non-atrophic gastritis.

Of those that have a Helicobacter pylori infection, one to three percent develop stomach cancer. The serum glycan could serve to identify patterns that indicate an early biomarker of gastric cancer.
