The GI societies stress the importance of colorectal cancer screening, the rate of which is below recommendations. The National Colorectal Roundtable has set a goal to see 80 percent of adults 50 and over get screened by 2018.
“During National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, we aim to improve public understanding of risk factors and screening recommendations, reach for better treatments and set our sights on a cure,” said President Obama, according to the report.
